Free Health CoachingHealth coaches help patients improve their health! High Plains is the only local provider of FREE health coaching services. Your health coach will assist you in personalized goal setting, offer helpful tips, and connect you to local resources setting you up to successfully achieve your goal. Each site and provider team has a health coach available for your convenience.
Cooking MattersThrough Cooking Matters programming, participants learn to shop smarter, use nutrition information to make healthier choices, and cook delicious, affordable meals. We envision a future in which all children have the nutritious foods they need to grow, learn, and thrive, and all parents and caregivers have the knowledge and skills to prepare delicious, balanced meals.
CHARLARCHARLAR is a shared community program for adults to learn, build skills, and improve health behaviors to lower their risks for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The program includes 11 weeks of evidence-based skill building and education classes, cardiovascular disease and risk factor screenings, physician counseling, and group-based physical activity.
Silver SneakersThis fun exercise class for seniors or those with limited mobility will help to make your daily activities easier. Health Coach Holly Burton will teach you techniques to improve your balance, build muscle strength and increase your range of motion. Participants use hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and resistance balls. Chairs can be used for seated and/or standing support. There is a nominal fee for this class; however some Medicare clients are eligible to join for FREE. Stop by the LCC Wellness Center to register anytime or ask your health coach for more information.
Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)If you have prediabetes, getting type 2 diabetes doesn't have to be a sure thing. In fact, prediabetes can often be reversed. Join a CDC-recognized diabetes prevention lifestyle change program to help prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. The program can also lower your risk of having a heart attack or stroke, improve your health overall, and help you feel more energetic.
High Plains Walking ClubJoin our club and get moving with a health coach at the LCC Wellness Center. Every Saturday morning at 8:00am
